Access Statement

Introduction

At Stoneridge Guest House we aim to cater for the needs of all visitors to our home. The following is a summary statement of our access provision. If you have any specific questions please feel free to call us and we will endeavour to help.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

Tactile signpost in driveway displays name and contact number (black font on white background). Unlit at night.

Parking is on off-road driveway where 4 cars can park. A dropped kerb provides access onto flat gravel driveway. A 6 cm stone ridge prevents gravel egress onto road. Free parking also available on Park Road (in front of the house) a flat, tarmac road.

Covered entrance is 10 meters from parking area. 4 flat stone steps 16 cm high and 175 cm wide lead to doorway. No handrail or ramps available but support offered when possible. Doorbell 15 cm high for initial access thereafter a personal key issued for access. This main door is always kept locked. It is the only entrance/exit for use unless in an emergency.

We can assist with luggage and welcome well behaved dogs.

The bus stop from London and Manchester is half a mile from us. It is a 10 - 15 minute walk. With prior notice we can collect you by car.

The train station is a flat 5 - 10 minute walk. With prior notice we can collect you by car. The train takes 1 hour from or to the centre of Manchester.

Manchester airport is a 45 - 60 minute journey time by car.

We can book the local taxi service with prior notice. Taxi numbers: 01298 70423, 01298 23457, (01663 750228 24 hr service, 4-8 seaters). The 01298 70423 taxi rank is a 5 - 10 minute walk from the Guest House.

Bike hire is available locally and bikes can be delivered to the Guest House. Bikes and motorbikes can be stored in a secure garage where repair equipment exists.

Brochures and menus not available in Braille. Access statement can be produced in larger font size if required.

Convenience shops are a 10 minute gentle downhill walk.

Shop/mobility scheme hire is Hazel Grove, Stockport. Tel no 0800 0833675.

Boutiques, restaurants and the Opera House are a 3 - 5 minute gentle downhill walk.


Main Entrance & Reception

The front driveway to main entrance is lit at night when movement detected.

Main door wooden, single leaf, side hung inward opening. Width 120 cm. Tiled flooring and coconut mat in porch 165 cm by 190 cm.

Seating and coat hanging provided in porch.

Internal lighting uniform throughout house. Night lighting available throughout the night. 2 cm wooden ridge exists between main door and porch and between porch door to hall.

Half glazed door from porch to hall opens inwards. 97 cm wide.

Hall area 230 cm by 260 cm, doors on left and right lead into dining room and guest lounge respectively both 85 cm wide. From hall stairs lead up to the guest bedrooms. Stair lift and ramps are not available.

Additional room keys are available on request. Guests free to enter house at any time.

An initial tour and escort through house provided.

Extra provisions for dogs are generally not provided but do ask.


Ground Floor Public Area - General (Internal)

Flooring throughout hall and up stairs of short pile carpet.

Full wood doors lead to both guest lounge and dining room. Doors open inwards.

Other than handrail on staircase no hand rails available in the Guest House.

Colour contrast exists throughout Guest House on all doorways.

Internal door bell in hall to call proprietor. Height 138 cm.

No public WC provided on ground floor.

No public telephones provided.

Wi-Fi Access available on ground floor.

Baby changing facilities not available.

No induction loops are installed.


Dining Room

Breakfast and evening meals served in dining room or bedrooms.

Table service provided.

Allergies and special diets catered for with prior notice.

Dining furniture can be moved on request.

Tables have under space of 50 cm high by 110 cm wide and height of 72 cm (legs on each corner). Chairs have fixed arms although chairs without arms can be provided on request.

Menus can be provided in large print by prior arrangement but not in Braille.
We do not generally play background music in any area.

Lighting uniform but dimmer to suit.

Colour contrast of crockery and critical surface provided if required.


Guest Lounge

Furniture moved by request only.

No induction loop installed.

Afternoon tea available if requested.

50 cm TV with Teletext, DVD and video player and large stock of films available on request. Magazines and radio available.

5 day weather forecasts available if requested.

Lighting uniform but dimmer fitted to suit.


Staircase to First Floor Ensuite Bedrooms

There are 14 stairs to a landing, a turning circle of 110 cm followed by a further 6 stairs to the first floor and all 4 guest bedrooms.

Stairs are 16 cm high, 28 cm deep and 100 cm wide.

No lift or escalator exists.

Handrail on right hand side of the staircase as you ascend.

Doorway at the top of the stairs 70 cm wide.

Colour contrast exists between doorways and walls.

Seating area provided on the first floor outside bedrooms. Chairs all arms fitted and fixed. Height 35 cm.

To call proprietor from the first floor requires mobile phone or voice unless personal alarm carried. Reliability of mobile phone signal/reception not guaranteed.

No public WC available on first floor.


First Floor Bedrooms and Ensuite Facilities

Room 1 - Twin beds

Door is 85 cm wide and inward opening. Room has short pile carpet throughout.

At least 50 cm route width within the bedroom eg to the side of beds, between beds and furniture. Some furniture is moveable on request.

Free floor space clear of door is 150 cm x 100 cm.

Divan twin beds each 54 cm high.

33 cm television with remote control. No teletext. Wi-Fi Access available.

Two fixed arm chairs provided. Height 44 cm.

Outward opening wooden ensuite door width 74 cm. Floor surfaced in linoleum. No adapted WC or emergency pull cords. No seat in shower. No support rails.

Shower cubicle 75 cm square with shower opening width of 50 cm. Shower cubicle has an edge height of 14 cm.

Basin is flat fronted and has clear under space. It is 86 cm high.

The toilet has forward transfer only and is 45 cm high.

Good colour contrast of floors and walls. Fixtures match wall colour and some fittings in glass.

There are no en-suite baths. All en-suites provide shower, WC and wash hand basins.

Guests either evacuate themselves back down the stairs or wait at the first floor landing window for assistance.


Room 2 - Family Room (Double bed and Single bed)

Door is 85 cm wide and inward opening. Room has short pile carpet throughout.

At least 40 cm route width within the bedroom eg to the side of beds, between beds and furniture. Some furniture is moveable on request.

Free floor space clear of door is 160 cm x 120 cm.

Double divan bed 54 cm high.

34 cm television with remote control. No teletext.

Two fixed-arm chairs provided. Height 40 cm. One a rocking chair.

Outward opening wooden ensuite door width 68 cm. Floor surfaced in linoleum. No adapted WC or emergency pull cords. No seat in shower. No support rails.

Shower cubicle 70 cm square with shower opening width of 34 cm. Shower cubicle has an edge of 19 cm high.

The basin is round fronted and has some clear under space. It is 85 cm high.

The toilet has forward transfer only and is 40 cm high.

Good colour contrast of floors and walls. Fixtures match wall colour and some fittings in glass.

There are no en-suite baths. All en-suites provide shower, WC and wash hand basins.

Guests either evacuate themselves back down the stairs or wait at the first floor landing window for assistance.


Room 3 - Double bed (with option of splitting into twin beds)

Door is 85 cm wide and inward opening. Room has short pile carpet throughout.

At least 30 cm route width within the bedroom eg to the side of beds, between beds and furniture. Some furniture is moveable on request.

Free floor space clear of door is 160 cm x 120 cm

Divan double bed or separated as twin beds each 66 cm high.

34 cm television with remote control. No teletext. Wi-Fi Access available.

Two fixed arm chairs provided. Height 40 cm.

Outward opening wooden ensuite door width 68 cm. Floor surfaced in linoleum. No adapted WC or emergency pull cords. No seat in shower. No support rails.

Shower cubicle 70 cm square with shower opening width of 34 cm. Shower cubicle has an edge of 19 cm high.

The basin is round/ fronted and has clear under space. It is 82 cm high.

The toilet has forward transfer only and is 40 cm high.

Good colour contrast of floors and walls. Fixtures match wall colour and some fittings in glass.

There are no en-suite baths. All en-suites provide shower, WC and wash hand basins.

Guests either evacuate themselves back down the stairs or wait at the first floor landing window for assistance.


Room 4 - Double bed

Door is 85 cm wide and inward opening. Room has short pile carpet throughout.

At least 30 cm route width within the bedroom eg to the side of beds, between beds and furniture. Some furniture is moveable on request.

Free floor space clear of door is 180 cm x 130 cm

Divan double bed 54 cm high.

34 cm television with remote control. No teletext.

Two fixed arm chairs provided. Height 60 cm.

Outward opening wooden ensuite door width 68 cm. Floor surfaced in linoleum. No adapted WC or emergency pull cords. No seat in shower. No support rails.

Shower cubicle 70 cm square with shower opening width of 48 cm. Shower cubicle has an edge of 20 cm high.

The basin is round fronted and has clear under space. It is 83 cm high.

The toilet has forward transfer only and is 40 cm high.

Good colour contrast of floors and walls. Fixtures match wall colour and some fittings in glass.

There are no en-suite baths. All en-suites provide shower, WC and wash hand basins.

Guests either evacuate themselves back down the stairs or wait at the first floor landing window for assistance.

Outdoor Facilities

Large secure drive-in garage available to house any motor equipment.

There is no outside WC.


Conference & Meeting Rooms, Banqueting, Clubs, Entertainment

Both the dining room and guest rooms can be used as meeting rooms for residents.

Furniture can be moved on request.


Grounds and Gardens

We have an open driveway to the public road therefore allowing dogs to run loose is not recommended. Small lawn downward sloping with flower border.

Buxton’s famous Pavilion Gardens and Serpentine Walk is a 5 minute walk from the Guest House where dogs and owners can get more exercise. This park leads into a forest area (Gadley Wood) which is open to the public also.

There is a stone bench (soft cushions available on request) for resident seating overlooking lawn.

Stepping stones across a downward sloping lawn lead to wooden bench seating on a gravel surface in a gazebo at the bottom of the garden. Front and last step have an edge height of 20 cm to clear lawn border.

A patio area is accessible from a side door in the guest lounge. Glazed door 80 cm wide, outward opening. 3 steps of 15 cm height lead down to patio surface where wooden bench seating is available. Flagstone surface uneven in places.


Additional Information

Assistance dogs are welcomed.

Property in very close proximity to tennis courts, cricket pitch and bowling green.

Beware mobile phone reception varies depending on supply company.

Front, back and side doors are open to use in case of emergency evacuation but under normal circumstances only the front door is used to leave the building.

Smoke detector bleeping or verbal instructions indicate if evacuation is necessary. If you require more assistance for evacuation please notify us on arrival and we will ensure you are evacuated safely eg hearing impairment.

We are a 'No Smoking' building and no smoking is allowed in the gardens. Smoking is allowed on the pavement in front of the house and a bin is provided but no hot ash is to be put in the bin.

A small drinks fridge can be provided in the bedrooms which can be used for medication/food and we can put larger items in our main fridge on request (not available 24 hours).

We do not accept credit or debit cards. We do not have a cash register. Payment to be made in cash or cheque (bank transfers allowed with prior approval). Invoices are presented in by hand in large font if required.
